The image I chose is from Alex Webb’s  The Suffering of Light . This image depicts Mexicans being arrested while trying to cross the border into the United States. Alex Webb is known as one of the pioneers of American color photography. Th e images i n this book The Suffering of Light are known for their intense color and lighting. This series is what got Webb into color photography to begin with. Now he is well known all over the world for his color photographs. This is ironic because he started out as a black and white photographer in New England and New York. It is only because of a trip to Haiti w h ere he saw that color was a large part of the society that he found out he wanted to capture the colors. Since this work he has gone on to become a Magnum photographer, has published 18 photobooks, and exhibited his work in a number of mu seums.   All the images in this series have vibrant colors and a great contrast of light.      “WE ARE ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS NOW! ” . This was said because the development of the cell phone allows everyone to take pictures. I disagree with this statement. I disagree because it takes more than simply pushing a button to become a photographer. Like most art forms one must have a talent for expressing themselves. However, they also must have a drive to grow and learn how to improve. Developing and editing an i mage also takes time, effort, and skill. A photographer must capture a story in every image. A story that the viewer must figure out for themselves. It must have a deeper meaning than just a picture of a cute dog. So just because you can take a picture you are not a phot ographer. A photographer is a title earned just like a painter or a sculpt or . You must be an artist. I have been taking photos for over three years, I have learned a lot and grown so much but I still do not call myself a photographer yet. For me inspiration is very important .
