Gregory Crewdson

Gregory Crewdson is an American Photographer. His work is all staged, but it is made to look not staged. Crewdson started his work when he wanted to make his own short film, but he realized how hard it would be to do an entire short film so instead, he made images that looked cinematic. Almost all of Crewdson’s images for this series, “Twilight”, were done in the same small town. However, some of his images are on sets that he and his team build from scratch. When he photographs in the small town he uses either people from the town or people from his crew. When it comes to Crewdson’s images his attention to detail is amazing. In the set above every little detail was a choice made by Crewdson. He also took several pictures of every production. Most, if not all, of his images were a compilation of the best elements from each of those pictures. In the end, this series had 40 images and it took him 4 years to complete. Beatrice Helg

       Beatrice Helg is a photographer from Switzerland. I like Beatrice Helg’s work because it is different. When I look at her work I find my mind quiets. I look at her work and I find myself looking at every little piece of it. My eyes wander exploring every inch of her work. I enjoy the simplicity of it. I’m at a loss for words when it comes to trying to describe her work. I like how when I look at her work I don’t feel pressure to have to understand it or define it. Her work is there just simply to be. It doesn’t need a reason or an explanation it just is. I feel drawn to it like a moth to light and I could just gaze at it for hours.

     David Muench is an American photographer. Muench is a landscape photographer. Both of his parents also worked in the field of photography. Muench works primarily in large format photography, meaning that his images are printed large in great detail and clarity. He also uses color in a lot of his landscapes. He has worked with several magazines and has received several awards throughout his life. Muench has used a couple different kind s of cameras throughout his career, they are always analogue , and with those cameras he has used different kind s of lenses , such as wide-angle and a telephoto lenses . He has also used different types of film, but he usually worked with  large format film .      I really like his image titled “Evening, Rock in Tidal Pool” from Bandon Beach SP, Oregon.
